Zero-Waste Cosmetics Brand

OBJECTIVE

Makeshift Beauty is a small cosmetics brand with an environmentally friendly focus. From zero-waste packaging to only organic and natural ingredients in the products itself. The goal with this brand is to promote a transition into the zero-waste lifestyle and the benefits of natural products. Makeshift's target audience is primarily young teens (between 14-18) who have an interest in beauty, DIY's and helping save the planet through safe products.


SOLUTION

In order to achieve zero-waste packaging, Makeshift uses tin and glass packaging which is completely recyclable and even refillable. The product comes in a recyclable cardboard box with minimal ink and color. Each kit comes with the multiple items that the consumer uses to create the final product themselves. This creates minimal waste by allowing for reuse after the product runs out. The ingredients are placed in the hands of the consumers which proves that the ingredients are natural because there's nothing hidden. A sleek, minimal aesthetic was fitting for the objective of having minimal waste. The serif typeface, Vidaloka mixed with the script, Monoline Script, brought in a handmade feeling which is the whole concept behind Makeshift beauty.
